First Look at the Book Den!

I worked really hard Friday night in my Book Den, and I got all the books shelved.

I have a lot of plans for this place too. Brilliant ideas just kept flooding in the more I worked with the books. Or maybe I just have a reaction to book glue. Either way. It's going to be awesome.

So I grabbed my camera and tried to get you some pictures of the Den which would illustrate its awesome. It didn't work. At least I don't think you can tell how great this place is from my bad photos.

But I did try.

I'm trying to make it a cozy, and inviting place.

There is still a lot of work do to.

Like cleaning the dog fur off my couch. Wendy's dog doesn't even come IN the bookstore. How'd her fur get here? Weird.

One of my Facebook friends spotted the Hitty book in a previous picture. Funny story about that book. I love it, but it's actually one of the most controversial titles I carry: controversial both in the human world and the doll world. I'll tell you all about that next time.

For now, I hope you enjoyed your first visit to the Book Den. Thanks for coming by, and come back soon!

  1. The thing about dog hair is that it ends up everywhere! ...Do I spy Gone with the Wind? <3

  2. Hi Tagi! Yes indeed about the dog hair. Weird. And yep, that would be Gone With the Wind! Good eye! One of our most popular titles!

  3. Very nice - and it photographed well! What are the books on the top right that are the various solid colors? Printies?? I would like to do some of them. I noticed the HP series.

  4. Hey Audra!

Most of the books we've got came from Norm's Dollhouse. They all open and have actual pages. These ones are very simple covers (just various colors with black print) so we got multiples 'cause they're cheap and I thought the book club might like them.

But I know there are a couple of printie places out there. All dolls need books on their shelves. Hope you'll make some nifty books!

And yes, no used book store would be complete without Harry Potter. There's Twilight around here somewhere. I'm on a quest for Hunger Games too.

  5. It looks great! And my eyes zoomed in on the Hitty book right away, too :D I'm glad you were able to find some of the photos for the old blog posts.

  6. Thanks, Anna! I've always liked books, so it just makes sense that I'd have a book store, right?

This edition of the Hitty book has gone back out of print, which I think is a pity. Controversial or not. It's good that I've got some copies for my store.

I'm so glad I found some of the pictures too. I am really bummed about some of the ones that are lost, but there's nothing to do for it but put my head up and blog on.

  10. Thanks, Bearpicnic! I am pretty tickled with it, but it's a LOT of work. I've been inspired by Valerie's "100 Dresses" project, so now I need a sewing room. Every day it's something different. But I'll try not to get overwhelmed. Thank you for the good advice!

Hey Tiggy! Thank you! It's nice to be back. :)

Hi Pluspussycat! Thank you! And yeah, remind me to tell you about that. It's kind of an interesting thing. And _I_ can't wait to see what becomes of the Book Den! I realized this morning (before I headed out on a Jeep trip) that the basement porch thingy needs lights. Like Christmas lights. Strings of 'em. Now to just find some. Wish me luck!!

  11. I am soooo living this amazing dollhouse! And the book room is awesome! Miranda has a better library than I do!

  12. Aww, thanks, Bama! It isn't really my library, just a bunch of used books. But I love bringing literature to other dolls, so a bookstore seemed like the natural way to go. And should you ever find yourself 5 inches tall, come on by! I'll fix you some tea!
