... With a Little Help From My Friends

Welcome to my Sunday morning.
***************************************
Devika: Okay, Wendy. We're ready to go.

Wendy: Er... go? Where?

Devika: Well, this being the morning after the car accident, you probably have some symptoms of whiplash, and to help recover from that, you should be out and about. Walking and just generally being active.

Wendy: What the...?

Devika: Previously, whiplash was treated with immobilzation, and drugs, but current treatment options tend towards a more holistic, whole body approach including gentle activity, range of montion exercises, NSAID use as needed, good hydration and eventually body work.

Wendy: Let me see that list...

Wendy: So when did you become such an expert on whiplash injuries?

Devika: I had such a sugar buzz from that cake Mr. Thorne gave me, I stayed up all night and researched on Miranda's computer.

Devika: And if it's on the internet, it's true! Right?

Wendy: Well, Vee....

Devika: So you seem to be drinking plenty of water, and that's great.

Devika: But you need to get out and walk. So let's get moving!

Wendy: But I....

Devika: Because after you're done with your first walk today, I need to get back here so I can start counseling with Mr. Bunsworth and his friend Esio, who were also in the accident.

Wendy: Hey! Those are the stuffed animals that sat on my dashboard! Wait .... I have a stuffed bunny named "Mr. Bunsworth?"

Devika: Mr. Bunsworth seems to have been most affected by the crash, so we'll start cousnseling with him first, as soon as we get back from your walk.

Devika: Now get moving!

And so I got moving...

Not Quite to the Meetup

Well, we didn't make it to the meetup.

Instead, we got rear-ended on the highway on the way there.

The tinies were all safely packed in a box, with pillows, and a taped shut lid. So they were fine, and completely unaware of the accident.

Rabbit and Gage were sitting in my purse, seat belted into the passenger seat. Both seemed fine, if a little bit shaken.

I was wearing my seatbelt, and so far seem to be doing fine as well.

Hami.... well, I'm not sure that Hami survived the accident, but we'll have to wait and see.

Gage got very protective of Rabbit as they snuggled in my purse at the towing place, waiting for Trygve to come pick us up.

The tinies, upon getting home and being let out of the box, immediately realized that we were NOT at the party.

Thorne, bless his heart, tried to fix the situation by bringing out treats and suggesting that the tinies have their OWN party now that they were all safely at home.

Miranda was having none of it, choosing to sulk instead.

******************************

Miranda: "Even chocolate will not fix this. I got dressed up for NOTHING! No one saw my adorable cuteness!!!"

Devika seemed just as happy to have some cake and relax at home. She said she was just glad that everyone was okay.

******************************

Taelyn announced that he had found a new hat.

Miranda: That isn't a hat.

Taelyn: It's my new cowboy hat!

Miranda: It's a box.

Taelyn! It's my red cowboy hat! It matches my bandana.

Miranda: It's the red box the cake came in!

Taelyn: Nope, it's a HAT! And I am a cowboy.

Miranda: It's a BOX. And you are an IDIOT!

*******************************

Syri kept to herself, spending her time tuning her guitar in her office. She seemed completely unfazed by it all.

Of them all, I am most concerned about my two love-birds, Rabbit and Gage. They've both been very quiet, and completely inseperable since we got home. We'll see how everyone is tomorrow.

All in all, I think it could've been worse. I am so grateful that none of the dolls, or Gage, were hurt. But I am absolutely heartbroken over losing my Hamster Van. Oh, Hami. (sniffle)

Getting Ready for the Meetup

Today we're headed down to Colorado Springs for the Colorado Ball Jointed Doll Yahoo Group's meetup. Everyone was just about ready to go, and here's some of the conversation I caught.

Devika: But Mr. Thorne... you HAVE to go....it won't be near as much fun without you....

***************

Miranda: Um... you're not dressed as a mummy.

Taelyn: I'm a cowboy.

Miranda: But you're supposed to be a mummy.

Taelyn: But I AM a cowboy.

Miranda: I left the mummy costume on your bed this morning, didn't I?

Taelyn: Yep, but I'm a cowboy instead.

Miranda: (sigh)
**********************

Wendy: Syri?

Syrinx: In here! I'm almost ready!

(of course, she's been "almost ready" for about an hour now).

***********************************

There will probably be a million pictures of the meetup when we get back!

Off we go! (even if I have to physically drag Syri away from that mirror!)

Please Don't Feed the Pixies

So I brought home a box of cookies for the pixies.

And this is what happened....

I don't want to see what happens when they discover the box of Petit Fours.

Tiny Music Practice

Since it was much too cold and snowy for playing outside, Miranda decided that the tinies should start practicing their Christmas Carols for the recital they're giving at the beginning of December.

Taelyn was shooed off because he doesn't seem to play anything, but he couldn't stand staying away.....

When she's reading outside, you can never tell who will come to visit Devika.

Pixies on the Playground

Monday was the first warm and sunny day we've had in a while, so my rather cabin fevered pixies ran out and enjoyed it on their playground.

Syrinx On the Move - Cold Weather

This is Nessa

... but you don't get to hear her story quite yet.

I think she's a little bored, just sitting around on my desk.

But she doesn't complain, sweet, self-entertaining girl that she is.

She's just come to the house today, and I think she's going to be a wonderful addition to the family.

I'll tell you all about her later....

For Halloween - Doll Eating Bear

This was the first picture I took for the October DDE photo competition. You can see the second one here - Burglary Foiled!

No dolls were harmed in the taking of this photo. And Benji, the bear, would like me to mention that he's not violent by nature, and is actually a vegetarian.

Quiet Night at Home With Devika

While the others are off playing and doing whatever they do, Devika kicks back and enjoys a quiet night at home, reading one of her favorite books.

My Desk - Their Den

So, I came home from a long, icky day of school to find THIS!

This was once my desk. And now.... it's a pool hall....

... and a game room?

Wendy: WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DESK?

Miranda: Well, it seems we spend an awful lot of time on your desk.

Wendy: Yes, and so you dragged out all the furniture from your apartment?

Miranda: (scoff) Of course not silly, this is all new stuff, otherwise where would we sit in my apartment? (shaking head)

Wendy: But... where did it all come from?

Miranda: I have warned you before, about just leaving your debit card laying around on your desk...

Wendy: Oh, Miranda!

Miranda: What do you want us to do?

Miranda: Honestly, Wendy, it's pretty boring watching you type. So we would like our stuff to stay, it kind of makes up for the Spongebob incident, now don't you think?

Wendy: Um... (blush)

Miranda: So how about WE continue to share your desk, and you can hang out with us in our cool new DEN!

And that was that.

Who Lives in a Pineapple, Under the Sea?

Who Lives in a Pineapple Under the Sea?

Miranda and Devika!!!

If I suddenly turn up mysteriously dead, stabbed to death a million times by tiny little knives, in the middle of the night, this was probably why.

Meet Syrinx

Syrinx is the newest pixie to join my little resin "family". Here is the beginning of her story.

*******************
Syrinx was once a princess of the pixie High Court.

Until, though the actions of another, her position there was lost. Syrinx found herself exiled from the court, and her home. She swore revenge on the one who had taken it all from her, but life has a way of continuing on and...

Several hundred years later, Syrinx has adapted to the modern world very well, and now makes her living as a professional muse.

Working on her trusty laptop, from coffee-houses and wifi hotspots all over the place, she maintains an advice website, and provides e-mail inspiration and coaching to artists, writers, and all those needing a muse. Syrinx has found that over the internet, no one knows you're a pixie, or that you're only a foot tall, and this has served her nicely.

While she has maintained herself well over all these years, Syrinx has never forgotten where she came from, or what she lost. Things were going pretty smoothly, until she found, completely by accident, through the internet, the location of the one she swore revenge upon.

A certain pixie named Miranda.....

Thorne and the Pixie Proof Harp

My two big harps are both Pixie proof - there's a big, iron rod running up the bow of them, and pixies (and fairies) hate iron.

Miranda, Devika, and Taelyn can't stand them and won't come near them even when I'm playing (and I tell myself it's because of the metal, not the playing). I thought my harps were pixie proof, until Thorne came to hear me play.

He loves my harp!

Who would've thought?

When asked about why he isn't bothered by the iron in my harps, he just said that they remind him of home and wouldn't explain further. Hmmm.

Meet Thorne

Thorne's character is only beginning to develop. He's not overly friendly with the other pixies, but he's starting to warm up a little bit.

Well, he doesn't seem to despise being around them so much, at any rate.

I'm still working on the right outfit for him. This was the best I could find, and it almost suits him, but it isn't what I have in my mind for him. We'll see if I can pull it off, since I'll have to make it myself.

I absolutely adore him. I can't wait to find out more about who he is.
