Photo Challenge - You Should Do This Too.

I always like the idea of these photo challenge things. I never manage to finish them, but I love the idea.

So this year, I'm trying again.

52 photos. One a week. I found a list that I like, and this is what we're working from for inspiration each week.

Here's the list -

Whadya think? Wanna try it with me? Let me know so I can keep an eye on your blog and encourage you!

I figure I can post my "challenge" picture any time during the week they're for. And one picture a week, I can do that. Right? Right.

Come on. You know you want to. Give it a try! Let me know.

P.S. I started a group on Facebook. It's just for people who are friendly to dolls/pixies/toys/etc You can find it here if you'd like to join - 52 Week Toy/Pixies/Dolls Photo Challenge. If not, that is totally cool too. Just post pictures to your blog. You can link to yours in the comments of mine if you want. Just so I get to see them! Okay? Okay.

Auld Lang Syne - Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

"For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syne"

Google+ did this crazy slideshow thing with my pictures from 2013.

I really like it. Even if it makes me miss my friends even more than I already did. I'm looking forward to April 1st, when they can all safely come home.

Happy New Year, everyone!!! I wish you a year full of friends, family, fantastic adventures, and all things fun and fabulous!

Farewell to you, 2013 - rather icky year that you were.

Welcome 2014! Please be awesome.

Day 19: Christmas Gratitude

So, I about gave up this whole project.

I was kind of having some problems with being jolly anyway, and then, I heard a commercial on the radio: A divorce attorney, offering a Christmas discount special. And that was it. The final straw. No more Christmas for Miri.

I packed away the Santa hat and the itsy bitsy Christmas tree and officially declared "Bah-humbug."

But I'm so lucky to have the awesome friends I do. Some nice folks talked to me on Facebook, and encouraged me not to give up.

And then the Hittys set me straight about a few things. They pointed out that I've taken on a lot with this Advent project, then trying a 12 Days of Christmas thing, and sending out cards, gifts and whatnot and not even living in my own house. They said that maybe I was making my own season a little too stressful and not focusing on the things that matter.

There's a nice mouse couple who have taken over running the Toy Shop while Tabby is gone. They sent me this little holly plant and a Christmas book as a "getting to know you" friendship present. We're going to have dinner sometime after Christmas. Anyway, THEY pointed out that this is a very tough time of year to be working in retail, much less running a store that isn't yours and with all the stress of not knowing if you're running it the way the owner would want. (They know about this stuff, 'cause they kind of have the same thing going on at the toy shop). I hadn't thought about that at all. But I think they may be right.

When Wendy got home, SHE pointed out that it's been really cold in the Wylde Kingdom lately, and wondered if maybe I wasn't getting enough sleep because I was too chilly. She could be right, I haven't been sleeping well. So she found me a little space heater to see if I might get some better sleep with a little more warmth.

It worked today. I had a good long sulk, lots of naps,  and spent the day wallowing in self pity and now I'm over it. You can only do that for so long, and it turns out that, for me, "so long" is about 1 day.

I'm okay. And I still love Christmas, even if it's being kind of an uphill battle sometimes. I got the hat and the itsy bitsy Christmas tree back out and we'll just see what happens.

So, thank you all for caring about me and for your help. I am so grateful to have friends who'll listen to me, and talk me through a rough spot. I am one very lucky pixie.

Thank you.

Back to your regularly scheduled Advent photo project. No more 12 Days. I just felt weird about getting stuff, stuff, and more stuff. So yeah... just pictures. Hope you don't mind.

Day 17: On the Fourth Day of Christmas...

On the fourth day of Christmas my roommate gave to me...

Four kinds of bath beads!  (OOH!)

Three wise men. (Who I had to take to the Equinox house. I realized if I left them at the Green Elephant, someone was going to try to buy them!)

Two Turtle Necks. (of which this is my favorite)

And this teeny tiny Christmas tree.

Things here are completely insanely NUTS! I'm trying to juggle everything, and I'm not doing very well. I have help coming in today to help me with the Green Elephant. Wish me luck! 'Tis the season to be super extra busy! GAH!!!!!

18 Wheels of AWESOME

It has been a totally crazy day here, at the Green Elephant. Customers EVERYWHERE!!! It was awesome, but really unexpected. I may have to hire help for the rest of the Christmas season! Yikes!

But, now that we're closed, and everyone is gone, I can tell you about the cool thing that happened last Saturday!!!

After our awesome music gig, we headed over to Norm's Dollhouse to work.

Turns out, the super awesome laser sign guy, Jeff, brought in one of his toys just for me to see (well, maybe for everyone to see, but I'm the only one it's the right size for, so for ME. Right? Right.)

Check it out.

It's a perfect MY size Semi Truck!!!!

It pulled up to the garage behind the Manor for something.

Like, for photo ops for ME!

Check me out. Wendy says I look like a lot lizard. Whatever that is. But I like reptiles, so it's all good.

I need to hang around the garage more often. I love cars and trucks and things. These were both awesome.

I look like I should be on a calendar IN the garage. I didn't change after the Christmas gig. But I didn't know I'd be doing a photo shoot, either.

If I had the right license, I could totally drive this. And drive it I would because...

There is plenty of storage.

 For, ya know...

Whoever Whatever you might want to store in a freezer truck.

It's huge, and it's beautiful, and I love it.

The trailer comes off, which is nice.

This is just the truck part. It's so CUTE!

Dear Santa, I know what I would like for Christmas. And I promise not to put anyone anything in it that doesn't absolutely belong in a freezer truck. Promise.

Oh, and did I mention I got VIDEO of it too? This truck ROCKS!!!

ZOOM!!!!!

Laser Guy, Jeff, thank you SO MUCH for letting me play with your awesome semi. It's way, way cool. I want one. A lot.

Day 16: On the Third Day of Christmas...

On the third day of Christmas, my roommate gave to me...

Three wise men.

Two Turtle Necks

And this ity bity Christmas tree.

They must be wandering wise men, because we have no idea where they came from. They were just in the Christmas stuff, apparently. Weird.

They're pretty cute. I'll find somewhere nice for them to hang out in the Green Elephant.

Day 14: On the First Day of Christmas...

On the First Day of Christmas, my roommate gave to me...

... this teeny, tiny, Christmas tree.

Aww, it's cute!

So I've decided to approach the final 12 days of this Advent project a little differently. I will be doing the last 12 days in the style of the 12 Days of Christmas.

I know that the 12 days of Christmas are actually supposed to start ON Christmas, but go with me on this. It'll be fun, and when did I ever say this blog was accurate? About anything? Ever? - Miri

Pixie Pianist for a Harp Gig

The Roommate and I played a brunch gig this morning. Christmas carols. She played harp, and I played accompaniment on the piano.

I was totally ready, with my trusty little upright piano. She was nervous. So while she tuned her harp again, and again and again I wandered.

I got to visit with Santa and told him my Christmas list. He didn't say much, but I think that just means he's overlooking punching that Elf on the Shelf last year. Thanks, Santa.

Hung out in the Christmas tree display. I'm quite ornamental, if I do say so myself.

Met some other dolls who were caroling. They weren't bad.

Finally ready for some warmups.

We rocked "Good King Wenceslas" if I do say so myself!  It wasn't quite time to perform yet.

One more special person to meet! This is my online buddy, Carrie! I got to meet her in person finally! Thanks for coming and saying "hi" Carrie! You're awesome!

And then we were on!

We played our best.

And we had fun too!

Pretty good crowd! They loved us, 'cause seriously, who wouldn't?

We came. We saw. We rocked their socks off.

It was a good gig. They were eating brunch, so they had food that they could've thrown and they DIDN'T. So, any gig where they don't throw food at you is a good one in my book.

It was a way awesome Saturday. Just WAIT until you see what pulled into Norm's this afternoon (we worked there after the harp gig. No rest for the wicked, or something). Next blog entry I'll show you.

Later,

- Miri
